COMBATING FELINE PAIN. Last weekend, more than 600 registrants, including veterinarians, cat owners, and cat enthusiasts, participated in the second annual Feline Health Symposium at #NCStateVetMed in partnership with @EveryCatHealth. THE SYMBOL OF PROFESSIONALISM. This past Saturday, the #NCStateVetMed Class of 2025 attended their long-awaited White Coat Ceremony. This event marks a significant milestone for the nearly 100 students, signaling the transition from the three-year pre-clinical portion of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program to the clinical phase, where they will work alongside veterinarians at the NC State Veterinary Hospital for the next year.
Third-year student, Shanti Coleman remarks, “I have loved the student part. I love learning and being in a classroom and learning new material, but I’m in this ‘put me in, coach’ moment, and I’m ready to get my hands dirty. This feels like the start of the career I’ve been training so much for, and now the training part is over. I get to actually get my hands in there, get off the bench and really start doing it.”
ON THE HORIZON. We`re counting down the days until the #Classof2024 strides across the stage, ready to take the veterinarian`s Oath! Stay tuned as we honor their journey with captivating stories, behind-the-scenes snapshots and everything in between as we lead up to their graduation ceremony on May 3....

A TAPIR CAPER: Sinar, a Malayan tapir from the @virginiazoo, paid a visit to #NCStateVetMed because of mouth pain and tooth troubles that his veterinarians couldn’t easily see. Our world-class CT, big enough to accommodate standing horses, was just the right size for 550-pound, 3-year-old Sinar and helped our exotic medicine experts assess what could be causing his pain. Their comprehensive exam revealed Sinar was anemic and had retained some of his baby teeth. After removing these bonus teeth, vets sent Sinar home to Norfolk with a personalized treatment plan. We’re happy to report he’s already feeling much better!...
